Stranded!!

This weekend, what started as just a trip to Denver on Thursday night to see Kendall's brother Keith, and then my sister Amber's family also on Friday-Sunday where we were supposed to meet the rest of my family for our post-poned Christmas. Well, it didnt work out that way at all! Early Friday morning it began to snow, snow, and more snow, ooh about 14+ inches, which gives Denver 3 fridays in a row of snowstorms! Well, our car was stuck in Keiths driveway, and we watched many other cars, including 4wheel drive get stuck out front anyway, so we decided to wait it out another day. Kendall and Keith shoveled for many hours to get us out Saturday morning, but ooooh the rest of the family couldn't make it due to the road closures from wind and blowing snow. Being in Denver, we still headed to Amber's to see her, Adrianna and Greg. We left Sunday around 1, the roads were finally open into Laramie so we headed home. Or we thought, halfway there I8O closed, 287 from Ft. Collins to Wyoming closed, 210(back road) was also closed, and eventually 34 near Wheatland closed, that leaving us No options in getting back. We waited 3 hours in Cheyenne, an hour of that at our friends house, and then just driving around and watching the flashing gates in hopes that they openened(along with MANY other motorists and semi's.) No such luck, so we decided to make the extra hour to my parents house to stay the night, and oh man was there WIND! With 55MPH wind, with gusts up past 80MPH, we counted about 9 semi's that had blown over, and there was probably about a dozen other trailors abandoned along the road. we made it back, to then drive through a sandstorm on my parents road, which had 0 visibility and we struggled to stay on the road, and then FINALLY a place to sleep, parents to see, and babies to feed! Oh wait, we got back to Cheyenne in hopes that the roads would be opened again this morning, nope, just from Laramie to Cheyenne, but not westbound, we ended up taking a back highway which is SUPPOSED to be truck free, well not today, there were many trucks that drove very very slow, so that took us another hour for a 40 minute trip! AWW were FINALLY really home and classes have started. That is my 20 minute story of our 24 hour trip that is usually 3 hours. The picture below is the triple parked semi's and cars from the closed road on for about 5 miles, not to mention the hundreds of trucks /vehicles parked at the truck stops, rest area's, and side roads waiting.

You guys had quite an ordeal for sure. I know I would have been SO frustrated. Not to mention the stress of driving in such terrible conditions. But WE got to reap the benefits of it by getting a great unexpected visit by you guys hehe! really enjoyed seeing you and Kendall and of course the babies!

And WE got to reap the benefits too. I am SO thankful and glad you and Kendall came to visit me. I think I would have been down all weekend if you wouldn't have been here to cheer me up.
